The Tribal Health Fund Specialist will be responsible to assist with the general Health Fund for Enrolled members residing outside CHSDA operation of the Stockbridge-Munsee Health Fund Program.  The Tribal Health Fund Specialist works under the direct supervision of the PRC Manager.


All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

1.  Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.

2.  Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description

3.  Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record

4.  Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays

5.  Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License as stated on job description.


1.    Obtain detailed client information to determine client’s eligibility for the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Health Fund Program.

2.    Maintain a record keeping system which includes tribal required reports and updates.

3.    Maintain working knowledge of alternate resources available and refer clients for assistance.

4.    Use the EHR system for maintaining patient information, commitment register, process vouchers, and other required reports/forms for the Health Fund Program.

5.    Prepare reports as directed, and correspondence.

6.    Prepare client vouchers and bills for authorization of payment or denial.

7.    Knowledge of other fiscal resources that clients may be eligible for preferred but not required.

8.    Complete other job related duties as assigned.

9.    Attend job related meetings and training as directed, and travel to major metropolitan areas to provide members with knowledge of program guidelines.

10.  Promote program to tribal members.

11.  Cross train with Purchased Referral Assistant.

12.  Ability to understand rules and regulations of Medicare, Medicaid, insurance, etc.

13.  Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.

14.  Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.

15.  Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.

16.  The above duties and responsibilities are not an all inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position.  The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

17.  Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.

18.  May be required to satisfactorily complete an exam or other testing requirement(s) to determine skill proficiency.


1.    Must be at least 18 years old with High School Diploma or GED.

2.    High organizational skills required.

3.    Basic computer skills required.

4.    Knowledge of the Health Service billing procedures preferred.

5.    Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.

6.    Confidentiality a must.

7.    Excellent communication with the public a must.

8.    Physical effort and work environment – Work is performed in an office environment and requires no more than normal physical discomforts or distractions.

9.    Must submit and pass a background security check to meet the Elder/Youth License Requirement as it pertains to the position and the location of the department prior to and during the course of employment with the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.

10.  Must be willing to attend all applicable training.

11.  Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening.  Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.

12.  Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.

13.  Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.

14.  Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.

15.  Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines


1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to twenty-five (50) pounds.

2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.

3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.

4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.
