Stockbridge-Munsee COVID-19 Health Campaign

COVID-19 has deeply impacted our Tribe. Like other communities, we have experienced many challenges over the past few months. Most of us miss seeing those we care about, and we are worried about our friends and relatives. Some of us have even lost loved ones.

Despite this, the pandemic has also brought out the best in our people, drawing us closer together, as we all make sacrifices to help keep our community safe. We have seen people working together, as well as many acts of kindness and caring support.

Over the past few weeks, Tribal leadership has begun developing a health campaign to inspire us all to do our part to keep our community safe.

To support this effort, the Tribe hired, Dr. Wendee Gardner. Wendee is the granddaughter of Leona (Cuddy) Welch and Grady Gardner. She is a public health professional and has worked with several tribes to develop health videos, social media content, fact sheets, and other materials.

Wendee believes that as Native people our cultural traditions and teachings contain the wisdom needed to get us through this difficult time. While supporting the campaign, Wendee hopes to get as many tribal members involved as possible.

Please stay tuned to the Tribe’s Facebook and COVID website page for ways you can participate. It will take everyone from Elders, Aunties and Uncles, and Youth to make an impact.
