Stockbridge-Munsee Health and Wellness Center Isolation/Quarantine Summary for COVID-19

This document is intended to provide a summary of the Stockbridge-Munsee Health and Wellness Center’s guidance on Isolation and Quarantine for COVID-19. This Summary is valid as of the date identified and is subject to updates and revisions based on new information and best medical practices for this disease.

 

Persons who tested positive for COVID-19:

 

Quarantine will be discontinued once the person who tested positive meets the following standards:

• 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared or the positive COVID-19 test result

AND

• No fever for at least 24 hours (that is one full days of no fever without the use of medicine that reduces fevers)

AND

• All symptoms have improved (for example, your cough or shortness of breath have resolved)

 

Quaratine Period - Positive COVD-19

NOTE 1: Those with severe cases of COVID-19 such as a hospitalization or those with compromised immune systems may be required to quarantine for 20 days instead of 10. The determination will be made by a physician.

 

Household Contacts of a person who tested positive for COVID-19:

 

Isolation of the household contacts will be discontinued once they meet the following standards:

• 14 days have passed since the infected person in the household was released from quarantine.

And

• Household contact do not develop symptoms (Fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle pain, loss of taste or smell).

• If symptoms develop during the 14-day period, they must be reported to the SMHWC (715-793-5087). The SMHWC will relay the information to medical providers for further guidance as to a need for testing and isolation/quarantine status.

 

Quarantine Period - Household Contact - Continued Daily Contact

NOTE 2: For people who continued to live in the same house, this 14-day isolation period begins at the end of the quarantine period for the person who tested positive. This requirement is due to the fact that persons living with the infected person could be infected throughout the entire initial quarantine period when the person was infectious. 10 Day Quarantine 14 Day Isolation Quarantine Period – Household Contact – Continued Daily Contact 10 Day Quarantine Quarantine Period – Positive COVID-19 Person’s test date Person who tested positive last day of quarantine. NOTE 3: If additional household members test positive, then the quarantine and isolation periods start over for the household.

NOTE 4: For people who do not continue to live in the same house (such as if they were a visitor for one night or the infected person is separated into an entirely separate area such as self-contained basement, camper, or cabin), then this 14-day period begins as of the date of last contact with the person who tested positive.

 

People who have Close Contact with a person identified as having COVID-19 or those who had Close Contact (2 days prior or less) to a person who later tested positive for COVID-19.

 

People with close contact will be tested for COVID-19. If the person tests Negative they will be placed on isolation for 14 days. Isolation of the close contacts will be discontinued once the person meets the following standards:

 

• 14 days have passed since the person was last in contact with the person who tested positive.

And

• Close contact does not develop symptoms (Fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, muscle pain, loss of taste or smell).

• If symptoms develop during the 14-day period, you must report symptoms to the SMHWC (715-793- 5087). The SMHWC will relay the information to medical providers for further guidance as to a need for testing and isolation/quarantine status.
