Group Fitness Classes

We offer a variety of group fitness classes for our members to participate in. Our group classes range from aerobics to strength training to flexibility based classes. A monthly calendar with the class schedule is posted on the website as well as throughout the building. For more information on our group classes please contact a member of the MFC fitness staff.

Personal Training

Personal training allows you to work one-on-one with one of our fitness staff members. Your trainer will work with you to design and implement an exercise regimen to help you achieve your fitness goals. Along the way your trainer will provide guidance and motivation to keep you moving in the right direction.

Benefits of personal training include:

  • Individual 1-on-1 instruction
  • Personalized workouts
  • Goal setting and progress tracking

Personal training sessions must be scheduled in advance and are subject to trainer availability on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Group Strength Training

If you and a workout partner would like to experience the benefits of a personal trainer together you can set up a group strength training session. Benefits of group strength training are the same as personal training only in a group setting. However groups must remain small and are restricted to 2-4 people

Group strength training sessions must be scheduled in advance and are subject to trainer availability on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Consultations

If you’re not looking for a personal trainer but need help getting started in the right direction you can set up an appointment for a consultation with one of our fitness staff members.

During your consultation you can cover topics such as:

  • Goal assessment and development
  • Workout assessment and design
  • Breaking through progress plateaus
  • Adding variety to your workout with new exercises
  • Questions you may have about a specific machine or exercise
  • Any fitness questions you may have
  • Developing sport specific workouts
  • Strong Bones Program

Consultations must be scheduled in advance and are subject to trainer availability.

Weight Room and Resistance Training Orientation

If you are new to the weight room or are just unsure about your knowledge of resistance training we suggest you set up an appointment for a weight room orientation with a fitness staff member. During the orientation you will be familiarized with the weight room and the basics of resistance training.

Topics covered during the orientation will include:

  • Proper use of all weight room machines and equipment
  • Proper form and body alignment for basic exercises and movements
  • Proper breathing during exercise
  • Selecting the appropriate amount of resistance and repetitions
  • Familiarization with the major muscle groups of the body
  • Basic workout routines

Orientations must be scheduled in advance and are subject to trainer availability. Orientations can be done on an individual or group basis.

Fitness Assessments

A fitness assessment is a test to evaluate your body in four basic areas; cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. The results of a fitness assessment can give baseline information that can help in developing fitness goals. You can have all components tested or just certain ones.

Components of the assessment include:

  • Resting heart rate and blood pressure
  • Body circumferences
  • Body composition with skin caliper and body fat analyzer
  • 3 minute step test (cardiovascular endurance)
  • Bench press and sit-up test (muscular endurance)
  • Sit and reach test (flexibility)

Assessments must be scheduled in advance and are subject to trainer availability. All information and results from an assessment are kept confidential.

The youth fitness program offers youth ages 12 and up the opportunity to have access to our fitness facilities. Members of the program must first complete 6 workout sessions with a fitness staff member, during which we teach them the basics of strength, cardio, and flexibility training.
