The Stockbridge-Munsee Land Management Department is responsible for maintaining and following the Mohican Land Use Plan in accordance with all codes and policies and to ensure that these codes and policies are followed.  Approval of the Land Use Code is affirmed. It is the responsibility of the Land Department to enforce these codes. They also survey land assignments and generate maps using GIS. The land department works with the tribal land use focus group to accomplish our planning and their vision statement is as follows:

We are representatives of the Mohican Nation; we are guardians and protectors of Mother Earth with a duty and responsibility to our future generations.

The mission statement is to follow the Land Use Plan that integrates conservation, preservation, and sustainable use of the multiple resources of the land. Collaborative effort and good communication will allow focus on positive solutions through compromise. The desire is to meet the needs of the people and the future generations while striving to insure and respect the right of the environment to exist, at least in designated places, in its natural state.
