Mission

For God and Country, as Mohican Veterans, we associate ourselves together for the following purpose; to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to maintain our Native American cultural identity; to foster and perpetuate a comradeship; to preserve the memories and incidents of our Warriors who served in the military of this Great Nation; State and our Native American communities; to advocate for fair and equitable treatment under the law, regarding all entitlement benefits accrued to all veterans, as Veterans; to promote peace and goodwill among the nations of the world; to safeguard and transmit to posterity, the principles of justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and sanctify our comradeship as the Mohican Veterans by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.

Inception

The Mohican Veterans officially formed in the summer of 1997, in time to participate in the Annual Mohican Veterans Powwow. We were formally recognized by the Mohican Nation in March 1998. Our officers were elected from the eighteen (18) veterans' participation in our organization.

 

Since our inception, we have represented the Mohican Nation at the rededication of the cemetery in Stockbridge, Wisconsin, the Annual Mohican Veterans Powwow, Annual Ceremony of Swearing in the New Tribal Council, Neighborhood Watch Walk, W'Chin'Din, Indian Summer Milwaukee, College of the Menominee Nation Graduation, the Powwow at Bowler School and Gresham School, Honoring Jim Thorpe in Lac du Flambeau, Pequot's Powwow out East, Menominee Nation Veterans Powwow, Annual Menominee Nation Powwow, Oneida Nation Powwow, UW Green Bay Multicultural Center Powwow, Milwaukee Indian Community School Powwow, Annual 4th of July Parade in Gresham, Annual Bowler Bash, Annual Shawano Fair Parade and Powwow, Caroline Colorama, Annual Ceremonies (Veterans Day & Memorial Day) and several other events for the community throughout the years. Our Color Guard participates in funerals for our veterans. We honor all veterans by the construction of a Memorial to their memory at W12790 Hwy Cty. A, Bowler, Wisconsin.

The 2019 Mohican Pow Wow Veterans Uniform will be the new Red Ribbon shirt. MEMBERS IN THE NEW Red Ribbon Shirt will be up front in Grand Entry with Eagle staffs and flags, then other members with Black or other uniform will follow in the formation.
